Aromatherapy is the internal and external use of medicinal plants containing aromatic active ingredients and their essential oils to maintain health and cure diseases. Despite the fact that modern aromatherapy has only been around for 15-20 years, it is one of the oldest forms of alternative medicine: the discoverers of ancient aromatherapy are thought to have been Egypt, who were already using this healing therapy 4500 years before BC (e.g. cedar, myrrh, nutmeg, clove and cinnamon essential oils were used in embalming mummies).
Aromatherapy can provide relief, relief and healing in many situations in life. It is effective both as a stand-alone and complementary therapy, and is fully compatible with both alternative and traditional medicine. Aromatherapy is an excellent health promotion therapy, it has a positive effect on the immune system and can help with cardiovascular, nervous, respiratory, digestive, gynaecological, locomotor and psychological complaints.
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils and plant oils to harmonise, strengthen or heal the body. There are two schools of thought, the English and the French. The English school is more of a wellness school, while the French school focuses on the quality of essential oils, including the chemical identification of certain essential oils. The French school talks about targeted therapies, where it identifies the target of the treatment and selects the biochemical molecule and, on this basis, the essential oil that is the solution. The two approaches are very different, the English approach being more suitable for prevention and harmonisation of the soul, while the French approach is more suitable for the eradication or cure of illnesses that have already developed or are in the process of developing.
About essential oils
Essential oil is the quintessence of the plant, its whole essence. Essential oils not only have a powerful physical effect, but also an ethereal quality like no other. This quality of essential oils has the ability to resonate with the human soul and open up spaces, to bring to the surface and release inner suffering, to allow healing and harmony to take place. The essential oils penetrate the unconscious, positively influencing our behaviour and emotions, thus restoring our spiritual balance
How is it created? The plant synthesises the energy of the sun, earth, water and air into volatile oils through photosynthesis and enzymes. The resulting essential oilis usually extracted by distillation (except for citrus fruits, which are obtained by pressing, and for sensitive plants, by means of the enzymes and enzymes in the plant's natural oils). Enflurage is used, which produces a very expensive oil, the absulutum).
The essential oil carries the fat-soluble active substances of the plant, which is composed of countless biochemical molecules. These valuable substances have a wide range of effects, for example, almost all essential oils are excellent disinfectants, but many also have bactericidal and fungicidal properties.
Essential oils are living substances and are therefore an excellent alternative for the human body, both in maintaining health and in curing established diseases. An essential oil works on many levels, affecting the physical body as well as the mind and spirit. It heals physical wounds, eliminates inflammation, strengthens the immune system, stimulates digestion, but it also has the same effect on the level of the soul and spirit. Essential oils can heal not only physical wounds, but also spiritual wounds, but can also remove disturbances in the aura and energise the whole human energy system.
The therapeutic properties of essential oils depend on their biochemical composition. Only high quality essential oils are suitable for therapeutic use. In order to obtain a premium quality essential oil, particular attention must be paid to the cultivation, the harvesting of the plant (some plants only have a few hours for harvesting, as the plant transmits its essential oil to the midday sun), the distillation (each plant requires a different time interval during distillation) and then the storage of the essential oil. Before the essential oils are placed on the shelves of therapists, they undergo strict quality control. In this so-called gas chromatography test, the percentage of active biochemical compounds in the essential oil is checked. In order to be therapeutic, an essential oil must always have the required percentage of active biochemical compounds, and some compounds must not be present in a higher percentage than a given percentage. The above clearly shows why testing is important for essential oils used in aromatherapy. Good quality essential oil has a price, but every drop of good quality essential oil is a treasure.
Essential oils are a tremendous help in everyday life, not only in maintaining health, but also in curing illnesses or even relieving mental stress.
